The Ice Cream Scoop
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Carolyn Keene and Anthony Accardo
Average review score:

Where are the clues?
In this Nancy Drew book Nancy is the detective along with her friends George and Bess. A mystery develops as the team is researching a class project on ice cream. While the girls are doing the research they discover that someone is trying to sabotage the towns new ice cream shop, the Double Dip. The story is told from Nancy's point of view, she does not tell the reader about the clues that she discovers during the mystery. This book did not give the reader the feeling of suspense, there were no cliffhangers or motivation to continue reading. Each chapter ends with a dull ordeal that is solved in the first few sentences of the following chapter. There are better choices for a mystery available.

Wonderful book for young kids, extremly action packed
In this episode, the young Nancy Drew has to do a report on ice cream. After asking around, she ends up taking "lessons" from two ice cream parlors. One of the parlors is an old fashion one, and the bright, new popular one is threatening to put it out of business. But then strange things start happening to this new parlor. Can Nancy catch the criminal and set them in the honest direction?

This book was too easy
I thought the book was too easy. Alot of times I never figure it out or I think I do but it's wrong. I could tell who the person was from the begining.

It was a very intresting book.
This book an O.K. book because it easy to figure out the mystery. I could tell the solution from the beginning of the book and I'm not very good at things like that.

The Sky Phantom (Nancy Drew Mystery Stories ; 53)
Published in Hardcover by Price Stern Sloan Pub (February, 1976)

One Of The Better Of The Higher Volumes
Nancy, Bess and George go to a ranch in the midwest where Bess and George perfect their horseback riding while Nancy takes flying lessons at a nearby school. While on a lesson, Nancy finds an abandonned plane and wonders what happened to its missing pilot. Later, the plane disappears as well, along with a pony from the ranch and Nancy works to solve both mysteries. Also, Bess is faced with a tough situation when she becomes interested in a cowboy from the ranch. This is one of the better of the higher volumes; although, that isn't saying much since practically all of the books from 35 up are garbage. The mystery in this one isn't too bad and their is a moderate amount of action in the book. Thankfully, the girls don't go to an actual place so the book doesn't read like a tour guide. I liked the part about Bess' dilemma. Though it wasn't thrilling reading, I found that it made the characters seem more real. I would say that this book is worth reading, but just once. I don't see myself wanting to read this book again in the near future.

Very adventurous. One of the best Nancy Drew books!
I think The Sky Phantom was great! You can learn a little about how planes work, and what it's like on a ranch.I like the part about Bess's Plight and how she had to make that very hard decision. There were several parts in the story where it left you hanging.I like how Nancy had to figure out what the silver meadel said. I think this is a great book!

Third Grade Reporter (The Nancy Drew Notebooks, Number 35)
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (September, 2000)
Authors: Carolyn Keene and Jan Naimo Jones
Average review score:

A little too juvenile
I've read a lot of Nancy Drew books and frankly I think that this book is to juvinile. I see where Keene is coming from wishing to provide a series for the younger generation but I think she should stick to the other books because I believe it is cramping her style.

EXCELLENT MYSTERY FOR YOUNGER KIDS
This is a well-constructed mystery about a former student who returns to Nancy's school for four days as a grown-up reporter. Most of the kids are thrilled she's there and want to impress her. The only problem is someone is after her. But who and why? Nancy leads the search to find out the answer and save her school from a bad newspaper review. I found the story a lot of fun.

Anthology of Japanese Literature
Published in Unknown Binding by ()
Author: Donald Keene
Average review score:

Provides a fair cross section, but needs more volume
Although this collection has become the standard in terms of introducing the history of Japanese literature, it has one fatal flaw: it is only one volume. Admittedly it includes a large number of the more famous scenes from many famous works... the problem may be that that is all. What is a great scene or passage is up to the editor, and Dr. Keene knows better than anyone what his audience wants and needs to get a good glance at Japanese literature. However, there are many more scenes important to the overall picture of Japanese literature (such as Michiyuki-bun, aka travel stanzas) which do not exactly translate the best. The missing two stars are meant to serve as hope that the publisher will try for something with a little more meat on it next time, even at the risk of a few more pages.

Nancy Drew: Legend of the Lost Gold
The Legend of the Lost Gold was a pretty good book. Actually, it was a cliff-hanger. When nancy and her friends go on a vacation in Big Sur, California, there are a lot of mishaps that are pretty scary. Then they find a map for a supposedly hidden treasure and prehistoric fish. Read the book and find out for yourselves in this mystery book!
